Trade and Logistics Jobs: Boards, Employers and Pay

International trade and logistics jobs are advertised in three places that rarely overlap: sector boards for forwarding, warehousing and procurement; the careers sites of carriers and logistics groups; and the UN and development boards that carry trade policy and trade facilitation work. Demand is uneven across the sector. BIMCO and the International Chamber of Shipping estimate a shortfall of 39,100 certified ship’s officers in 2026, while the same report finds a surplus of 56,890 ratings, the crew below officer rank.

This directory covers four job boards, four employers that recruit directly, workforce data and training, the forums where people in the sector talk, and pay figures from ten countries. Every site below was opened on 29 October 2026. Where a page did not state a fact, such as a pay period or an operator, this post says so instead of guessing, and counts of jobs, members and subscribers are labeled as a site’s own claim or a third-party reading. Individual vacancies are kept in a separate list of current open positions, checked regularly.

Sector boards are only part of the route in, since many warehouse and customs posts appear on general boards instead. Those are covered region by region in the regional job boards directory.

Four job boards and what their pages state

UN Talent

UN Talent lists vacancies from the UN system, and its homepage says it gathers jobs from 59 official sources. Its agency pages for the International Trade Centre (ITC) and UNCTAD show open positions with countdowns instead of calendar dates. The page does not name an operator, give a job total or say whether basic use is free, though it promotes a paid Pro tier.

  • Strength: Collects openings from 59 stated official UN sources, including trade bodies, in one place.
  • Limit: No operator, job count or price for the free tier is stated, and agency pages show “days left” rather than closing dates.

Devex

The Devex jobs page calls the site the world’s largest global development job board. That is the site’s own claim, and the page shows no listing count, regions or operating company beyond a copyright line covering 2000 to 2026. It links to Membership, Career Account and Devex Pro options without prices, and offers employers a “Post a job” route. Development work is where trade facilitation projects tend to be advertised, though the page lists no trade or logistics category.

  • Strength: A single board dedicated to the development sector, with an employer posting route.
  • Limit: No job count, region, price or trade category appears on the page that was opened.

Supply Chain Online

Supply Chain Online is the trading name of Ashenhurst Media Limited, registered in England in 2006, and runs on the Madgex job board platform. Its homepage shows category counts instead of a total: 2,093 jobs under Europe, 269 in procurement, 250 in supply chain, 218 in logistics, 126 in transport and 7 in import and export. Job alerts are described as a free service, and no fee for job seekers is stated. Most ads on its procurement page were placed by recruitment firms, with the hiring company unnamed.

  • Strength: Counts by specialism, from buyer to warehouse, and by region let a reader see where volume sits.
  • Limit: The regional list is mostly UK counties plus a single Europe bucket, category pages show no closing dates, and only 7 import and export ads were listed.

JobsInLogistics

JobsInLogistics.com says it connects more than 35,000 employers and recruiters in the supply chain industry with candidates, which is an unaudited figure. Its description says it is free for logistics job seekers. The page covers logistics, distribution, warehousing, freight forwarding, manufacturing, purchasing and inventory management, and does not name an operating company.

  • Strength: States that it is free for job seekers and spans freight forwarding through purchasing.
  • Limit: No job count, operator or list of regions appears, so coverage outside any single country cannot be confirmed from the page.

Four employers that recruit on their own sites

Maersk

The Maersk careers page sorts roles into professionals, warehouse and transportation, seafarers, technology, air freight, and students and graduates. Requirements and pay sit in individual postings rather than on the careers page. Its graduate postings run through national programs; the UK and Ireland program for 2027 lasts two years, requires indefinite UK work rights and offers no visa sponsorship, and lists pay only as competitive.

  • Strength: Graduate postings state the selection stages, from a video interview to an assessment center and a leadership interview.
  • Limit: The careers page carries no scam or no-fee statement, and graduate postings give no pay figure.

DP World

The DP World Shipping Solutions Graduate Programme lasts two years across tracks in shipping and logistics, procurement, finance and business development, and IT and project management. The page cites 37 offices in 18 countries. It asks for a recent bachelor’s or master’s degree, or graduation in summer 2027, fluent English and willingness to be fully mobile. Applications for the September 2027 intake open in November 2026.

  • Strength: Lists degree fields by track and states that international experience is preferred but not required.
  • Limit: No closing date, pay or fraud statement appears, and the page does not say which offices take graduates.

DHL

The DHL careers page says the company operates in more than 220 countries and territories and has a frontline roles section alongside links for students and graduates. It states no headcount and gives no entry requirements on that page. DHL also publishes a recruitment fraud notice, undated, which lists warning signs such as Gmail or WhatsApp contact, requests for an ID copy or bank details, and fees for registration or background checks.

  • Strength: The fraud notice states that DHL will never ask candidates to transfer money in advance and names a reporting address.
  • Limit: The careers page itself describes frontline roles only in general terms, with no requirements, pay or application steps.

World Trade Organization

The WTO’s Young Professionals Programme page describes a one-year placement for people aged 32 or younger at the expected start date from developing and least-developed members. It pays CHF 4,000 per month plus medical cover and travel, and asks for an advanced degree in law, economics or a related field, two years of relevant experience and fluent English. The page gives no call dates, and the WTO’s jobs portal could not be opened, so the status of the 2027 call was not confirmed there. A secondary site reported a 6 May 2026 deadline for that call. The ITC, a joint UN and WTO agency, lists internships in Geneva, and one closed internship posting states that interns are not paid.

  • Strength: Salary, age limit, duration and eligibility are all stated on the page.
  • Limit: No call dates, no-fee statement or fraud warning appears on the program page.

Fraud warnings from CMA CGM and India’s shipping regulator

On 22 November 2021, CMA CGM warned of fake job messages using the name of CMA CGM UK. Some asked for money in exchange for a job, and others asked for personal details for payroll forms before any offer existed. The company’s notice says it never asks applicants for bank details, card information or a fee.

India’s Directorate General of Shipping issued a similar seafarer advisory of 26 November 2025, stating that legitimate recruitment for a vessel is free and pointing to a license lookup for recruitment agencies. Between them, the CMA CGM, DHL and Indian notices name three warning signs: a fee before an offer, contact through personal email or messaging apps, and requests for bank details before a contract exists.

Workforce forecast, FIATA diploma and CILT

BIMCO and ICS Seafarer Workforce Report 2026

The report, released on 25 June 2026 by BIMCO and the International Chamber of Shipping, puts the 2026 officer shortfall at 39,100 and the ratings surplus at 56,890. Demand for STCW certified seafarers is up 35 percent since 2021, with officer demand up 23.1 percent and ratings demand up 46.3 percent. The fleet of 85,148 ships employs 2.57 million seafarers, and the report says 113,735 more officers will be needed by 2030. It is published every five years and covers shipping crews, not freight forwarding or warehousing.

  • Strength: Gives separate officer and ratings figures, with a 2030 projection and the previous report’s year (2021) as a comparison.
  • Limit: The press release page states no method, and it covers seagoing jobs only.

FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding

The Irish International Freight Association delivers the FIATA diploma online in ten monthly modules from September to June, with a three-hour written exam in Dublin. The fee is EUR 2,145, or EUR 1,560 for subsidized places through CILT Skillnet for the 2026 to 2027 group. The page gives two start dates: a heading refers to the 2026 to 2027 group, while the next listed group starts 25 August 2027. In India, the Indian Institute of Freight Forwarders ran a FIATA online diploma batch from January 2026 over 10 months, requiring completion of grade 12, and an article about it says the qualification is recognized in over 120 countries, a claim by the publisher.

  • Strength: The Irish page states the fee, schedule, exam format and a subsidized price.
  • Limit: No formal entry requirements are listed in Ireland, and the Indian article states no fee.

Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport

CILT describes itself as a registered charity founded in 1919 and the chartered body for logistics, transport and supply chain professionals. Its qualifications list includes a Level 6 Advanced Professional Diploma in Supply Chain Networks. The institute runs a jobs board that showed 12 results on 29 October 2026, with filters for England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Remote and Overseas. Its Freight Forwarding Forum, chaired by Paul Kelly, says it connects forwarding professionals across more than 30 countries.

  • Strength: Offers chartered status, courses, a jobs board and a freight forwarding community under one body.
  • Limit: Membership numbers, fees and any student or scholarship offer were not stated on the pages opened.

Reddit, a maritime forum and two YouTube channels

Reddit, Instagram and LinkedIn refused automated access during this check, so no Reddit page was read directly and no Instagram account was opened. Reddit member counts below come from GummySearch, a third-party analytics site, on the “last updated” date shown on each page, and are rounded. YouTube channel pages opened but returned descriptions without most counts or upload titles. No page stated a country focus for any community, so skew can only be read from topic words where a page lists them.

r/supplychain

The GummySearch page for r/supplychain lists 118,000 members, up 24,000 over the past year, as of 15 October 2026. It describes a career and operations community where advice requests are the most common post type. Its top topic words include job, inventory and shipping.

r/logistics

GummySearch lists about 76,000 members for r/logistics, up 24,000 in a year, as of 25 October 2026. The description covers transportation, compliance, warehousing, purchasing and planning, bans advertising and removes blogspam. Members often discuss job searches, third-party logistics providers and freight.

r/freightforwarding

The subreddit has about 16,000 members, up 7,000 in a year, as of 24 October 2026, per its GummySearch entry. The most frequent topic tags are “freight forwarder”, China (100 posts), shipping and India (30 posts), which suggests an Asia trade-lane focus, although the page does not state one.

r/FreightBrokers

About 48,000 members, up 9,000 in a year, as of 25 October 2026, according to GummySearch’s r/FreightBrokers page. It is a space for freight brokers to discuss the industry, and the page says frustration is the most common type of post.

r/maritime

GummySearch lists about 51,000 members for r/maritime, up 16,000 in a year, as of 30 September 2026, and describes maritime news and discussion affecting those at sea. Its topic words include ship, job, seafarer, training and cadetship.

gCaptain Maritime Forum

The forum belongs to gCaptain, a maritime news site founded in 2007 by Captain John Konrad, whose About page says the forum has over 18,000 members, a self-reported figure. gCaptain also runs a maritime job board. The forum covers seafaring rather than freight forwarding or customs, and the CILT Freight Forwarding Forum described above is the nearest forwarding equivalent found.

MVC Logistics Academy

The MVC Logistics Academy channel describes itself as a supply chain and logistics coach and career strategist, and its page shows 27K+ subscribers on 29 October 2026. No upload titles were returned.

Supply Chain Secrets

The Supply Chain Secrets channel is run by Rob O’Byrne, who also runs the consultancy Logistics Bureau, and covers supply chain tips, lessons and interviews. The page returned no subscriber count or upload titles.

Pay figures from ten countries, sorted by who produced them

The figures below count different things and are not converted between currencies: weekly full-time earnings in Australia, hourly low, median and high wages in Canada, a monthly gross median for one industry in Singapore, annual averages in Japan, monthly medians from hiring records in Brazil, an annual median in the US, and ranges from recruiters, a trade association and a pay-information publisher elsewhere. Each row is labeled official, derived from official data, or an estimate. Two gaps remain. The UK and Germany have only an economy-wide official figure here, because their occupation-level pages and tables could not be read, and no usable Korean source was found.

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 18 percent growth in logistician jobs from 2025 to 2035, against 3 percent for all US occupations, with about 26,600 openings a year. That is the only official outlook figure retrieved; Australia’s Job Outlook site and the UK National Careers Service profiles both refused automated access, and the other countries’ pages give pay, not outlook. Brazilian figures cover only formal CLT contracts, so informal work is not counted. The Singapore row is one industry out of the full dataset, so it should not be read as the national wage for the job. Gulf packages often add housing and other allowances that these ranges may not show; the contract rules are covered in working in the Gulf after kafala.

Missing pay data, and the dates that change this list

Occupation-level official pay was retrieved only for Australia, Canada, Singapore, Japan and the US. The UK and Germany have only economy-wide official figures here, the Gulf rows are a single recruiter’s ranges, and no Korean or African pay source was found, although East African and Nigerian employers advertise regularly on the sector’s boards.

DP World opens applications for its September 2027 graduate intake in November 2026. The Irish FIATA diploma’s next listed group starts on 25 August 2027. The BIMCO and ICS workforce report is published every five years, so on that cycle the next officer and ratings estimate is due in 2031.
